Washington Wolves President

Mary Mladinov was the Washington Wolves club president for years and really held their club together. She was described as a great person. She died of ovarian cancer in December 1998 – she was in her early 40’s.

Mary Pratt Mladinov, 47, former associate secretary of Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society, who had lived in Washington since 1981, died of ovarian cancer Dec. 30 at her home in Washington, DC, in the company of her sister and her mother. Ms. Mladinov, a graduate of Bethlehem Central Senior High School, was the daughter of Barbara Mladinov of Delamr and the Late John K. Mladinov, who was formerly Executive Deputy Commissioner of the New York Department of Trasnportation. Mary was born in Olympia, Washington, and grew up in Washington State before moving to Delmar in 1967.

She graduated from Wellesley College with a major in art history and also and attended Dartmouth College for her junior year. She received a Master’s of Business Administration degree from the University of Virginia.

Ms. Mladinov, who retired from the organization in 1998 as its second-highest officer, began her 15-year career there as a part-time book award coordinator. She later became an administrative officer before her promotion to associate secretary.
